- What is this doing here? When choosing a font for your Web pages, it's a good idea to specify one or more alternatives (and the font-family they belong to) incase one is not installed on your visitors' OS. Unless, of course, you don't mind your pages being seen in their browser's default font, whatever that may be. Lots of people surf with automatic font downloading disabled.

- What is this doing here? Spelling errors make a Site look cheesy... and no one will take you seriously if you can't spell. It only takes a second to look up a word you're not sure about. Use a spell-checker if you frequently mis-spell common werds or mak a lot of type-o's. Surch injins wil not be abel to fnid yoo ether if yur keewerds ar spilled uncurrictly!!

Software

In order to keep your computer and personal information safe, all Windows users should have the following:
- A proper Firewall (Not the built-in Windows firewall!)
- Antivirus (never have more than one antivirus program installed on one computer)
- Anti-Spyware (good to have several of these as one may catch what the other ones miss)
- A safe web browser (something other than Internet Explorer!) - and set it to block third-party cookies
- A non-Microsoft email program

- Visiting strange sites with Java or Javascript enabled is an open door viruses and spyware. Quickjava is a handy little Firefox add-on that lets you enable and disable these quickly from the browser's statusbar.

Note: Microsoft mail programs like Outlook and Exchange are an accident waiting to happen. Use Courier or Thunderbird in conjunction with antivirus software and common sense, configure properly, and you won't have to worry about email-born viruses.
