digital files ![[Download and postal mail]](images/deliver.gif)
When your retouched photos are ready, they will be available for download off a private temp directory on this Site. Prints will be shipped with a CD-ROM containing the digital master files. If you would like a downsized copy for screen viewing or the Web, please specify your screen resolution or the approximate size you need in pixels. There is no extra charge for this.
prints - shipping
Prints will ship by Canada Post. Shipping price includes a $2.00 handling fee; the cost of a Canada Post photo mailer or box, and insurance up to $100.00 CAD.
International Customers please note: I will only ship prints to confirmed addresses (confirmed by Paypal). Unconfirmed addresses require delivery confirmation which is very expensive through Canada Post. Duty fees and Import taxes are not additional shipping charges. These charges, which are imposed by your country's laws are your responsibility. I will not falsify Customs forms (mark packages as "gift" or declare a lower than actual value) because that is mail fraud. Large orders can be split up and mailed in separate packages though. International Air Mail takes about 10 business days (2 calendar weeks) but can take up to 4 weeks during peak periods.
Pictures and documents to be scanned should be sent via postal mail to the address on the confirmation page you'll be forwarded to after contacting me for a quote. Please use proper photo packaging to ensure they don't get damaged. (Enquire at your local Post Office.) It's best to have a copy made first and send the copy to me.
If your pictures have already been scanned—or they were taken with a digital camera, just send me the files from your computer. See: Digital Photo Requirements.

I contract out all printing jobs to Burlington Camera - a family owned business that has served Burlington for over 50 years. Their prices are higher than "budget" photo finishers, but the difference in quality is night and day.
Non-standard photo sizes (such as 4x5 and 5x5) will be printed as 4x6, 5x7 etc. on a white background that will need to be cut with a scrapbooking tool or exacto knife & straight edge. This will save you money because non-standard size prints cost considerably more. Since digital photography became popular, 4x5 was replaced with 3.5x5 - the aspect ratio of a digital camera and most monitors.
Unless otherwise specified, your pictures will be printed on Fuji archival matte photo paper with 3% white borders. Personally, I prefer borders because there is less chance of part of your image getting cut off when you frame it... Not good if your subject is close to the edge. If a person's head or feet are very close to the edge of the picture, I will try and extend the background a bit, but in some cases that is not always possible. Although I specify "no overspill" when filling print orders, machine printing always cuts 1/16th of an inch or so from two of the four sides. It is annoying but sadly, unavoidable. It has nothing to do with the machines being uncalibrated. They are calibrated daily. It is just the difference between manual dark room developing and machine printing. I am *very* fussy and check all prints before leaving the store. Most of the time they will redo "wonky" ones while I wait.
Fuji paper has a projected life span of about 200 years if stored and handled properly. See the General Information FAQ for photo care & storage tips.
